The start of the Infrabel Academy construction work began on 25 January next to the Brussels West train station in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. This project concerns the construction of a training centre unique in Belgium. The plot will house a building intended for theoretical and practical training in the rail professions (for a total of 9,500 m²) as well as outdoor didactic infrastructures simulating works on the tracks.
Mr Luc Lallemand (CEO Infrabel), Mrs Françoise Schepmans (mayor of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean), Mr Francois Bellot (Minister of Mobility, responsible for Belgocontrol and the Belgian national railway company), Mr Rudi Vervoort (Minister-President of the government of the Brussels-Capital Region) and Mr Didier Gosuin (Brussels minister for Employment, economy, professional training and health). The building is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 and represents a total investment of 20 million euros. (Source : infrabel.be)
Bureau Greisch carries out a complete multidisciplinary mission on this project: architecture in association with Atelier Kempe Thill, stability, MEP techniques and assistance to high energy performance design. This mission is carried out with BIM (Building Information Modeling) collaboration within the Greisch office. The difficulties specific to the construction site are particularly linked to the presence of subway tunnels on the site (adaptations and verification of the stability of the tunnel infrastructures, taking into account the accidental derailment of a subway on the foundations of the building, acoustic and vibration analyses, integration of the project and architectural ambitions on the site, etc.).
Client: Infrabel
Period: 2018 – 2020
