Renovation of the swimming pool of Victor Boin
The Victor Boin municipal swimming pool was built in 1905, then extensively remodelled in Art Deco style between 1938 and 1940. Today, it is one of the last remaining examples in Brussels of the architectural heritage of baths and swimming pools from the inter-war period.
The project aims to highlight the historical features and respect the atmosphere of the place. On the other hand, the building must be adapted to today’s standards and requirements. The priorities are therefore to make it easier for the public and staff to use, to improve safety and access for people with reduced mobility, and to enhance comfort and well-being.
The building will be completely renovated and refurbished. In particular, the circulation and access routes will be completely redesigned to comply with regulations governing barefoot and shod foot access. The project also includes the creation of an additional level for new administrative premises and new insulation for the building.
The works also involve replacing the low-voltage electrical installations (high and low voltage) and installing new security systems (fire detection, comfort and evacuation sound systems, intruder detection, video surveillance, access control, anti-drowning system) and new photovoltaic solar panels on the roof.
In terms of HVAC, the project includes the installation of a Mix-Ind ventilation system for the swimming pool and a ventilation unit for the new administrative wing, as well as the installation of a new boiler room to replace the existing one. The sanitary facilities and showers are being replaced or renovated, and new foot baths added.
The installation of a PRM lift is also planned.
