On Thursday, 21 November, bureau greisch took part in the PIANC autumn seminar, “From Heritage to Resilience.” During the event, Pierre Hogge presented the methodology and the first results of the inspection programme for the hydraulic structures of SPW Mobility and Infrastructure.
This project, carried out in collaboration with SECO, consisted in proposing an inspection methodology and applying it to all SPW structures. As a result, SPW now has a clear picture of the condition of all its existing hydraulic assets, enabling the development of an informed prioritisation strategy.
Over the past two years, numerous structures have been inspected, including:
- fixed and movable river dams
- locks
- the Strépy lift, the inclined plane and the four historic boat lifts
- canal bridges
- pumping stations
- hydroelectric power plants
- hundreds of kilometres of engineered banks, dikes and quays
