Recypark Demets in Anderlecht awarded at the Belgian Timber Construction Awards 2024

On Thursday 12 December, the Recypark Demets project was named winner of the Belgian Timber Construction Awards 2024, a distinction that highlights our commitment to sustainable and circular design.

Located in Anderlecht, this project combines three functions: a recypark, a skatepark and a community space. One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is the re-use of a wooden structure from an old riding school in Bierset, a real technical and environmental challenge. We had to assess the mechanical properties of the wood, guarantee its stability in a new configuration and extend the structure’s lifespan beyond traditional standards.

Our office contributed its expertise to meet these challenges, in collaboration with the offices 51N4E, Witteveen+Bos, Rotor, and the builder Art Valens. Thanks to a multidisciplinary approach and innovative solutions, this project embodies the values we stand for: re-use of materials, optimisation of resources and sustainability.
