Aspire Tower at Doha
This 300-meter-high tower has been built within sixteen months.
It houses in the lower part a five-stars hotel with a swimming-pool 80-meter-high above ground level.
The other areas are located in independent blocks linked to the concrete core of the tower and consist in :
- a presidential apartment,
- a sports museum,
- a rotating restaurant,
- a panoramic platform.
The Greisch engineering office, as a partner of the Belgian company “Jungbluth Alu partners”, has designed the tower facade:
- the 70 lower meters are composed of two different constituent layers: glass and stainless-steel mesh panel;
- the whole facade is made up of stainless steel mesh panels;
- the facade geometry is obtained by a steel structure, radial tubes and circumferential truss beams;
- the stainless-steel mesh panels are tensionned on individual steel frames. The frames are then hung from the truss beams;
- the whole facade is hung from the different blocks.
Facade characteristics:
– 30 000 m² stainless steel mesh,
– 10 000 m² glazing for the lobby,
– 12 000 m² glazing for the hotel and the different blocks,
– 2 200 tons of structural steel relative to the facade.
