The Lixhe bridge (Visé, province of Liege), designed by bureau Greisch in 1980-1981, has been closed to traffic since Thursday 8 February. The detachment of one of its anchor bars caused the deck to lift several tens of centimetres, causing the torsion of the deck.
The detachment probably results from the combination of several factors that cannot be precisely identified at this stage. Initial observations, however, ensure that the structure is not at risk.
Initially, a 140-ton ballast weight was installed on the abutment to lower and stabilise the bridge, before continuing the analysis and carrying out repairs to the structure.
