From September 8 to 12, 2025, Bureau greisch took part in the international SmartRivers Congress, dedicated to inland navigation and river engineering, which was held this year in Memphis (Tennessee, USA).
On this occasion, David Monfort, Managing Director of the firm, presented our approach to the standardisation of locks along the Walloon backbone, developed within the framework of the Seine-Scheldt East project. This strategy aims to optimise the design, maintenance, and operation of four new locks, while integrating environmental, technical, and logistical requirements.
The presentation also highlighted the recent publication of the PIANC Working Group 206 report, Design of Navigation Locks (August 2025), to which Bureau greisch contributed.
Our participation was an opportunity to share practical experience with the scientific and technical community, and to contribute to discussions on the sustainable modernisation of waterway infrastructures.
