The roof of the church of Dieupart in Aywaille threatens to collapse. After an assessment of the situation by our Renovation and Heritage team, emergency measures are taken to stabilize the building.
These measures consist, first of all, in removing nearly 12 tonnes of slate in order to lighten the structure, and in placing a tie rod through the cradle of the nave. Fixings are also placed on each rafter, making it possible to block the sliding of the purlins.
During a second intervention phase, brackets will be placed to ensure that the roof plane is blocked at several levels of breakdowns. An umbrella structure will also be installed to protect the building pending larger work.
