Upgrade of the lock complex of Ampsin-Neuville

Upgrade of the lock complex of Ampsin-Neuville

Construction of two new locks – the first 225 x 12.5 m (Vb class) and the second 225 x 25 m (VIb class) – on the site of the existing 55 x 7.5 m and 136 x 16 m locks. The works are phased to permanently maintain the navigation. The fall is 4.70  m.

The project also provides for the rectification of the upstream and downstream right banks to meet nautical constraints. This requires prior deviation of the N90 road.

Numerous landscaping arrangements are planned, notably around the artificial river type fish pass projected on the left bank over a 700 m length.

The existing footbridge is completely demolished and replaced by a new one in corten steel, longer footbridge accessible to disabled persons.

All existing buildings are demolished and replaced by new ones.

The project won 1st prize in the “Urban Development, Infrastructure & Mobility” category at the Belgian Construction Awards in 2024.
