Liège-Guillemins railway station The new station comprises a monumental steel and glass dome, 200 m in length, which covers the tracks and new infrastructure, realised essentially in white concrete. It particularly accommodates high-speed TGV trains travelling between Paris and Cologne.
The station is organised on three levels:
- - the passengers’ centre (waiting rooms, retail stores…) located beneath the railway tracks, at the same level as the pedestrian square in front of the station. The tracks are supported by through-girder bridge decks. Concrete plate girders support the glass-tile platforms carrying light to the centre,
- – the platform level,
- – the two transverse footbridges above the tracks afford direct access to the various platforms from the kiss-and-ride area at the back of the station.

All visible structures are executed in white concrete, the numerous curved and/or skewed surfaces that constitute the object of the study are the challenge of the design and the realisation.
At the rear, the station comprises a three-storey car park erected at the foot of Cointe hill. The kiss-and-ride area is located at the top of this car-park and is linked directly to the E40-E25 motorway.
Two storm water basins have been sunk beneath the station, containing the water draining off the roof which spans 33,000 m².
Many construction phases were necessary, as the old station, adjacent to the new one, remained in operation throughout the construction work, with half of the railway tracks still in use.
