Introduction of Greisch's office

The Greisch's office, based at Liège, was founded in 1959 by the engineer and architect René Greisch and holds currently more than one hundred collaborators within its four companies (beg, gi,gce and canevas). This large team is always open to collaborative ventures and carries out complex assignments in the most varied fields.

One of its assets is to have established, at a very early stage, a working relationship with the University of Liège. The resulting cooperations enable links between the university and businesses and the use of advanced research to develop applications with construction firms. Several engineers working within the bureau are part of the teaching staff of the Applied Science Faculty, training engineers and guiding their research. Furthermore, Greisch's team includes a number of young engineers who are carrying out researches into new fields.

By that way, the Greisch's office is able to stay at the forefront of software development. A research unit develops, under the name Greisch Ingénierie, suitable software for the various assignments commissioned to the bureau.

Knowledge of the firms web and of their potential in the various fields is another asset enabling the bureau to design many highly innovative works, taking advantage of the available techniques, endeavouring to improve them or to simplify their implementation and hence to reduce the cost of construction. The total integration of the techniques and of the constraints of implementation as well as innovative theoretical research is the key to all the new approaches put forward by the bureau.

The beliefs of Greisch's founder about rightness of design in relation to efficiency, economy and functionality have been realised in several works which have established the reputation and the references of the bureau.

The interest of René Greisch in architecture just as much as in the design of buildings, has filled the team with a spirit of research and innovation which has made its reputation among architects and has led to many collaborative ventures with the most famous names. The bureau holds an architectural cell (canevas) in order to create an atmosphere where the engineers are constantly questioning and searching for new solutions, both formal and technical.

The team spirit and the questioning, the determination to work through collaboration and synergy, the constant innovation and the dynamism, the invention combined with the imagination have become the working methods and principles that underpin the work of the Greisch's office.
