Work concerning the extension and the restoration of Sint-Lukas Hogeschool in Brussels (BE) goes on.  Bureau Greisch, in consortium with Poponcini & Lootens and SNC Lavalin, ensured the studies of stability of the whole work. The first two phases, of which the last has just been finished, relate to new constructions. The current phase relates to the restoration of the existing buildings where, in accordance with the fire protection standards, concrete floors replace the old wooden floors. The work is planned to be finished for the end of this year.

Bureau Greisch belongs to the prize-winning team of the international contest for the alterations of the Museum of Modern art and contemporary art (MAMAC)in Liège (BE).  The existing building, which will house the future International Center of Art and Culture (CIAC), will be restored and will undergo heavy interventions such as the deepening of the basement to create there showrooms, an audience and workshops. The large blind frontage along the "Diversion" (city canal) will be opened to give access to an extension built on piles. Bureau Greisch ensures the studies of stability in collaboration with Lamoureux-Ricciotti for this project of the architects Rudy Ricciotti and the Cabinet pHD.

François Bachy, 33 years old,  member of our office since 1999, died accidently in his residence this Thursday, July 22nd. As a passionate of bridges, he took part in the studies of the Millau Viaduct and the railway station of Liège-Guillemins. As project head responsible, he carried out the studies of two prestigious bridges on the Reunion Island : the viaduct over the 'Grande Ravine' and the bridge over the 'Ravine Fontaine', both inaugurated in 2009. As a brilliant engineer, he had recently joined the group of bureau Greisch associates. His rigour, his dynamism, his availability and his knowledge will remain a model for all those who were close to him.

Refitting of the underground station De Brouckère in Brussels (BE).  In partnership with SUM Project, bureau Greisch was seen entrusting the totality of the stability studies for the heavy restoration of the whole underground station as well as the reinforcement of internal traffic flows and connections with the close shopping centres. The end of work is scheduled for 2013.

Bureau Greisch collaborates in the realization of Presidential Flight State Guest Terminal in Abu-Dhabi (UAE).  This terminal especially designed to receive highplaced guests of the United Arab Emirates forms a substantial extension to the existing international airport. The intervention of Bureau Greisch relates to the execution studies of all the façade structures and the glass dome in the roof.

Our collaborator and adviser, Alain Goujon, died Monday July 2nd at age  62.  In his work, he astonished us by his perceptiveness. By carrying out his last fight, he gave us a great lesson of courage and dignity. Thank you Alain.

24/06/2010Bureau Greisch is charged by the Ministry for the Area Brussels-Capital (BE), of the study of two underground connections on the “inner ring road”.
Bureau Greisch is charged by the Ministry for the Area Brussels-Capital (BE), of the study of two underground connections on the “inner ring road”.  The first one involves the tunneling of the fast lanes between Louise and Trône.
The second one relates to the creation of a roadway junction between the inner ring road and the avenue Louise while coming from the city gate "Porte de Hal". These studies are carried out in partnership with the offices Bagon and Egis. The feasibility study, currently in progress, must be completed for the end of 2010.

Unveiling in Nice (FR), on June 1st, of the Bernar Venet sculpture bureau Greisch made the stability studies for.  This work consists of nine auto-patinatable steel « bars », 30 meters high and weighing 60 tons.

The first phase of restoration and transformation of the Royal Opera from Wallonia in Liege (BE) started.  Bureau Greisch-Bgroup made studies of stability for the new structures which will be built on the existing building without deteriorating its classified parts, in particular the new scene box adapted to the current standards of production. Architects: A2RC, Architectes Associés and Origin.

Bureau Greisch takes part in the operation Bilan Carbone® realized on the territory of the town of Seraing (BE).  The realization of a carbon diagnosis meets two broad aims that the office was fixed. First is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions related to its activity. The second implies the integration of new values in the regulations of the specifications which it prepares for better taking into account the environment, the human and the health. The project is guided by the AREBS (Agency for the Economic Redeployment of the Seraing Basin)and is supported by the policy of the « Big cities ».

03/05/2010The town of Liege (BE) has entrusted to bureau Greisch the stability studies for an observation platform off the view to the Citadel.
The town of Liege (BE) has entrusted to bureau Greisch the stability studies for an observation platform off the view to the Citadel.  Realised within the framework of the tourist valorisation of the slopes of the Citadel, this platform comprises an overhang of 16 m². It is connected to a path by a 50 m long staircase. The whole of the work made out of auto-patinatable steel, by the Melens&Dejardin company, is perfectly integrated into the landscape.

08/04/2010Jean-Marie Crémer was honoured on March 23rd with the Albert Caquot price, distributed annually by the French association of civil engineering (AFGC).
Jean-Marie Crémer was honoured on March 23rd with the Albert Caquot price, distributed annually by the French association of civil engineering (AFGC).  This price distinguishes an engineer, not only for the whole of its career, in particular for its scientific and technical work, its projects and its achievements, but also for its morals qualities and its radiation in the world of construction. Allotted every year, it rewards, sometimes a French engineer, individual member of the AFGC, sometimes a foreign engineer. Among the eleven foreign award-winnings, honoured since 1989, Jean-Marie Crémer is the first Belgian to receive this medal.

Bureau Greisch made the studies of the structure of the principal staircase of the National/University library of Strasbourg (FR).  This staircase, a 12 m high spiral, consists of a steel caisson suspended on the dome of the library by 120 stainless steel wire ropes. He was imagined by the Agence Nicolas Michelin & Associés within the framework of the rehabilitation of this prestigious building dating from 1871.
 
15/03/2010Bureau Greisch studied the implantation in Seoul (Zuid-Korea) of a sculpture in "Cor-Ten steel" of the artist Bernar Venet.
Bureau Greisch studied the implantation in Seoul (Zuid-Korea) of a sculpture in   The sculpture in arc reaches 38 m height for a total weight of 25 tons. It leans on the Ferrum Tower. The study of stability of this very slim artwork relates particularly to the dynamic behavior to the wind.

Bureau Greisch belongs to the projects promoter of the new hospital of the Christian Hospital Center (CHC) of Liege (BE) which will be built in Glain, on the ground of the old coal mining of Patience and Beaujonc.  It ensures the mission of stability in collaboration with the consortium Artau - Assar - Hoet and Minne for architecture and Technum - Tractebel Engineering for the special techniques. This hospital will gather the three establishments of the CHC of Liege. It will count 750 beds and will accommodate 2500 workers. The laying of the foundation stone is foreseen in 2011 and the opening in 2016.

Bureau Greisch is charged, by the Public service of Wallonia, of the studies of the connection of the roadway systems along the quays of Meuse with the future esplanade of Guillemins in Liege (BE).  These studies are both technical and urban and concern in particular the setting in underground of the fast tracks and take account of the possibility of integrating a tram in exclusive right of way. They are done in partnership with the Atelier d'Architecture of Sart-Tilman and Transitec Ingénieurs-conseils.

Bureau Greisch intervenes in the realization of Qatar National Convention Center of Doha, center of conferences of 65000 m².  Its tasks are the studies of execution of the suspended frontages of mixed design steel/structural glass, as well as many glass roofs/walls and light wells in the building.

Bureau Greisch will, throughout the year 2010, follow the execution of the reinforcements of the pylons of emission of the RTBF of Froidmont (165m), Anderlues (185m) and the Bol d'Air of Ougrée (220m) (BE).  These three large pylons must be reinforced to receive new equipment in the years to come and satisfy the last standards as regards wind resistance.
